ST. LOUIS – It’s been around for decades, but the Moonlight Ramble was canceled over the weekend due to safety concerns. The chaos unfolded near Market and 7th streets, drawing in not only cyclists, but a rowdy crowd of 4-wheeling riders in the downtown area while the late-evening bike ride was supposed to be taking place."I saw something this past Saturday night that I've heard about but never witnessed myself. And that was a large a number of young people on four-wheelers and smaller mini bikes with their lights off, basically raising Cane all through the streets," said Ed Rich, communications director at the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District.Rich has participated in the event for 16 years.Hundreds, if not thousands, of riders were expected to bike the 12-mile route, beginning in The Grove and going downtown toward the riverfront before looping back around to Manchester. This year’s Moonlight Ramble looked a lot different. CASEYVILLE, Ill. – There’s been flood prevention action taken in Southern Illinois following a FOX 2 series of investigations. It involves an abandoned railroad bridge over Little Canteen Creek in Caseyville. City Attorney Doug Stewart called it a bottleneck.“All of that water drains into this small little canal that is right here,” he said. The bridge clogged with debris in July 2022, leading to the flooding of an entire Caseyville neighborhood and the evacuation of a nursing home. The railroads did not respond to FOX 2 or the Village of Caseyville at the time. Viewer Scott Nauert reached out to the president of CSX.“I saw your story on air, and I forwarded the link to him on email, and he sent me a reply right back and says, we’re going to get right on it,” Nauert said.“It happened to be a professional contact of mine and happened to be the president of the company, and he’s doing a lot of good things, not only here but all over the CSX system.”Stewart added, “We do appreciate not on...Shirley Washington to be honored at Mid-America Emmy Awards ceremony

LOS ANGELES — ABC will be airing more “Monday Night Football” games than originally planned. An additional 10 games originally set to appear only on ESPN will be simulcast on ABC. The additional games will be on network television because of the ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents Disney, Netflix, Amazon and others. The strikes, which have been going on for months, have delayed most of the upcoming fall television season. When the NFL schedule was announced in May, ABC had four exclusive regular-season games — including Monday night’s matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers — and five being part of an ESPN simulcast.Last Monday’s game between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills averaged 22.6 million viewers on ESPN, ABC, ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes. OAKLAND — Before former Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong was fired in February, an inquiry found that he had failed to hold a problem cop accountable and gave statements to outside investigators that lacked credibility. Now, a retired judge tasked with reviewing Armstrong’s appeal has concluded there was no basis for the fired ex-chief to face discipline.“The discipline imposed on Chief Armstrong should be reversed and removed from his personnel record,” states the report by retired Judge Maria Rivera, the author of a new confidential report obtained by this news organization. The report — first obtained by KQED — is non-binding, meaning it alone could not force Armstrong’s reinstatement as chief of the Oakland Police Department. But it could play a significant role in Armstrong legal and public efforts to clear his name, which continued Monday, when he publicly declared himself vindicated.“It really clearly says that I did not engage in policy violati...Tony Jones Jr. scores twice, Saints’ defense shuts down Panthers’ Bryce Young in 20-17 win

We ran the ball effectively. I think we blocked it up front and he made the right cuts. You know, two touchdowns on the game. It was big for him and big for us.”The Saints’ defense did the rest, holding Panthers rookie Bryce Young to 153 yards passing in his home debut. New Orleans limited Carolina (0-2) to 239 yards and sacked Young, the top overall pick in the draft, four times.“They play hard and very physical,” Young said. “They know exactly where...Panthers LB Shaq Thompson expected to miss extended time with ‘significant’ ankle injury

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Carolina Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson is expected to miss extended time after suffering what coach Frank Reich said was a “significant” right ankle injury in the team’s 20-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.Reich said the Panthers will know more after Thompson undergoes medical tests on Tuesday. He wouldn’t say if the ankle might be broken. The 29-year-old Thompson was carted off the field in the first quarter. Saints offensive lineman Trevor Penning and Panthers defensive lineman DeShawn Williams were engaged in a block and rolled up on the back of Thompson’s right leg as he was trying to make a tackle. The Panthers initially announced Thompson was doubtful to return with a shin injury, but later updated that by saying he was out with an ankle injury.Thompson, in his ninth season with the Panthers, is one of the team’s emotional leaders. Before he was helped onto the cart, the entire Panthers bench ran on the field to wish Thomps...Canada expels Indian diplomat as it probes possible link to Sikh’s slaying. India rejects allegation

NEW DELHI (AP) — Canada expelled a top Indian diplomat as it investigates what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called credible allegations its government may have had links to the assassination in Canada of a Sikh activist, an accusation that India rejected as “absurd.”Trudeau said in Parliament on Monday that Canadian intelligence agencies have been looking into the allegations after Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a strong supporter of an independent Sikh homeland known as Khalistan, was gunned down on June 18 outside a Sikh cultural center in Surrey, British Columbia.Trudeau told Parliament that he brought up the slaying with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 last week. He said he told Modi that any Indian government involvement would be unacceptable and that he asked for cooperation in the investigation.Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said the head of Indian intelligence in Canada has been expelled as a consequence. “If proven true this would be a great viola...Montgomery Co. Six Maryland jurisdictions, including Howard County, already have a voluntary 911 registry, intended to help police handle calls that involve people with a range of disabilities, including autism. Now, Montgomery County is continuing to discuss the merits of similar legislation, where people could sign up to provide information to police and first responders ahead of time. The idea is that when those first responders arrive on a scene, they would know, for example, that a person at the address is deaf or might have delayed response times or be nonverbal. On Monday, members of two Montgomery County Council committees — Public Safety and Health and Human Services — met to discuss some of the issues that have cropped up.Council member Gabe Albornoz, who is also the chair of the Health and Human Services Committee, said he had questions about how the information would be provided to first responders during an emergency.“How is that communicated to officers who are actually responding and ...3 people hurt in shooting on 17th Avenue in Denver
